Cappella Academica Frankfurt

The Institute for Historical Interpretation Practice (HIP) at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt am Main sees itself as one of the leading centers in Europe for exploring early music and current interpretive approaches. In addition to instrumental courses focusing on early music, which integrate individual instruction, ensemble work, and source research into historical performance practice, the institute also offers many programs for the entire university and engages with the public through numerous events.

In the Baroque orchestra Cappella Academica Frankfurt, students and alumni of the HIP Institute perform together with their teachers, all of whom bring to the group their years of experience as soloists and members of leading European Baroque ensembles and orchestras. The orchestra has released several recordings, including music by Georg Philipp Telemann, Johann Gottlieb and Carl Heinrich Graun, and Antonio Vivaldi, featuring soloists such as Michael Schneider, Petra Müllejans, Karl Kaiser, and Christian Beuse, among others.

Professor Eva Maria Pollerus serves as the director of the HIP Institute and the Cappella Academica Frankfurt.
