State- and Seminary Library in the Court Garden

The building of the state- and episcopal seminary library was constructed from 1963 to 1965 under the direction of architect Karljosef Schattner and his colleague Andreas Fürsich. Its holdings include the Schlecht collection of music manuscripts from around 1740 to the end of the 19th century, as well as choir books and manuscripts of Gregorian chant from the 15th to the 18th centuries. One of the departmental libraries of the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt, it also contains rare prints, estates, graphics, publishing and association archives, and old vinyl records. Additionally, it provides university students with an extensive reference library on art education, art history, and archaeology, as well as book- and print history. Special treasures of the library can be viewed regularly during thematic exhibitions.
